COMPANY OVERVIEW Spectrum Healthcare Partners is Maine’s largest multi-specialty, physician-owned and directed professional organization and comprises approximately 200 physicians practicing anesthesiology, pathology, radiation oncology, radiology, and vascular & interventional services. Spectrum provides services at many of Maine’s hospitals throughout the state and in eastern New Hampshire.
POSITION SUMMARY This position serves as the senior accounting leader for the organization and is accountable for the integrity of financial reporting, effectiveness of internal controls, finance systems strategy, and development of the accounting function. This role provides leadership and oversight to accounting management and staff while partnering closely with executive leadership to support organizational growth and strategic objectives.
Establish accounting governance standards across all entities.
Ensure consistency in accounting practices, reporting methodologies, and financial controls throughout the organization.
Evaluate organizational risks and implement mitigation strategies related to accounting and financial operations.
Serve as a key financial advisor to the executive leadership team.
Present financial results, trends, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership, physician owners, and governance committees.
Own the organization's finance technology strategy and roadmap.
Sponsor automation and digital transformation efforts across finance operations.
Lead finance transformation initiatives that improve scalability, efficiency, and reporting capabilities.
Lead risk assessments related to financial reporting and operational processes.
Ensure audit readiness and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Prepare cash flows for all Spectrum entities and monitor cash positions.
Review annual financial statements and footnotes for accuracy.
Monitor control effectiveness and remediate identified deficiencies.
Identify opportunities to improve operational performance through enhanced financial insights.
Support strategic planning, growth initiatives, and business expansion opportunities.
Participate in executive decision-making related to organizational performance and financial sustainability.
Provide leadership and oversight for the accounting management structure, including direct supervision of the Accounting Manager and other accounting leaders as assigned.
Partner directly with operations leaders to translate financial data into actionable insights, ensuring alignment between financial reporting and operational performance drivers.
Establish and maintain clear communication standards within finance, including timely, direct responses to operational and executive inquiries, and proactive follow up on unresolved issues.
Collaborate closely with revenue cycle leadership to ensure alignment between billing operations, cash collections, and financial reporting.
Establish performance expectations and support professional development within the department.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and exceptional service.
Provide hands-on support and guidance during critical accounting cycles and organizational initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
10–15 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership responsibilities.
Demonstrated experience managing complex accounting functions and financial reporting.
